Overview
Magcloud is a self-publishing platform that was acquired by Blurb in 2014. Although the platform was left untouched for a little over 4 years, the platform still brought in a consistent amount of revenue YOY.
Why Redesign?
We believe new authors have a product in mind, a specific publication they want to create. It is difficult for them to know what products are available at MagCloud based on the existing format nomenclature.
Wireframe
Our team worked with an outside UX designer to rethink the Magcloud experience. The PDF (which can be downloaded by clicking the button below) shows the in-depth process in its entirety.
Mood Board
The demographic for Magcloud skews younger and more “risky” and “amateurish” which is very different from that of Blurb. I worked closely with my Art Director, Alex Palacios, we developed a design direction that keeps the brand integrity of Magcloud.
Design Direction
After coming up with a general design direction, we produced various designs that align with the user experience and user-research.
Design System
This design system was created to make sure that it aligned with Magcloud’s parent brand Blurb.
